Southern Implants Restorative Lab
3DL works with the full Southern Implants implant platform line. Custom abutments, screw-retained and cement-retained crowns, and implant bridges — designed to OEM tolerances with verified scan body compatibility. This page documents the implant lines we support, OEM and third-party scan body part numbers, CAD library coverage, and clinical considerations for Southern cases.

Final Torque Values
⚠️ Manufacturer-published torque specifications for clinical reference. Always verify against the current IFU before clinical use.
| Component | Torque |
|---|---|
| Final abutment screw | 15–32 (per screw type) |
| Healing abutment | 10–15 |
| Multi-unit abutment screw | 15 Ncm |
Variation by Implant Line
- External Hex / Tri-Nex (Unigrip Passive 2.7 mm head): 32 Ncm
- External Hex / Tri-Nex (standard hex screws): 15–20
- Compact Conical — abutment seating into implant: 20 Ncm
- Compact Conical — restoration screw onto abutment: 10–15
Per Southern Implants IFU CAT-8068, screws are matched by head size: 15 Ncm (2.0 mm head), 20 Ncm (2.0/2.5 mm head), 32 Ncm Unigrip Passive (2.7 mm head). Always verify exact value per part number on CAT-1003-11 Torque Table.

Clinical Notes & Considerations
- 'Scan Flag' rather than 'scan body' — keep nomenclature consistent so clinicians don't search for the wrong term.
- Tri-Nex and Compact Conical share some prosthetic components but NOT the scan body — distinct platform-specific libraries.
- INVERTA's co-axis/angled emergence requires careful scan flag selection; some clinicians use multi-unit-level scan flags rather than implant-level.
- MAX/zygomatic implants have specialized digital workflow considerations not all third-party libraries cover.
3DL Workflow for Southern Implants Cases
- Identify the component before submission. Call (248) 919-7929 or message through the doctor portal — 3DL verifies the Southern implant line, platform diameter, and the correct scan body family at no charge.
- Scan with any major IOS. Upload the scan through the doctor portal. 3DL confirms receipt the same day and validates the scan body capture before any milling begins.
- 3DL designs in matched pairs. Custom abutment and final crown are designed together so the emergence profile of the abutment supports the crown's gingival contour exactly.
- Mill, finish, ship. Custom titanium or zirconia abutment plus final crown ship together in 7 to 10 business days. Verification jig included on request.
