Osstem Implant Restorative Lab
3DL works with the full Osstem Implant implant platform line. Custom abutments, screw-retained and cement-retained crowns, and implant bridges — designed to OEM tolerances with verified scan body compatibility. This page documents the implant lines we support, OEM and third-party scan body part numbers, CAD library coverage, and clinical considerations for Osstem cases.

Third-Party Compatible Scan Bodies
Scan Healing Abutment — 2-in-1 Healing + Scan
Osstem and Hiossen publish a 2-in-1 Scan Healing Abutment that doubles as both a healing abutment and a scan body. The component head carries 4 occlusal landmark indents that encode size and diameter, so the lab can identify the exact part from the intraoral scan.
Per the Osstem / Hiossen documentation, the Scan Healing Abutment is "a healing abutment with scan body function, with specifications identified by indents on the abutment head." The 4 occlusal landmark indents encode size/diameter so the lab identifies the component directly from the STL — no separate scan body, no manual platform entry.
Compatible Implant Lines
- Osstem TS System (TSIII SA, TSIII SOI, TSII)
- Hiossen ET System (ET III, ET IV) — same prosthetic interface as Osstem TS
Sizes Available (12 SKUs)
- Diameters: Ø 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 6.0 mm
- Heights: 5, 7, 9 mm
- Cylindrical with a coded head (not anatomically contoured)
Workflow
- Place implant; seat Scan Healing Abutment with the integrated 1.2 hex driver-carrier.
- Heal — soft-tissue healing.
- Scan with the abutment in place — landmarks identify the component.
- Design — lab places the prosthesis library file at the encoded position.
- Deliver — final prosthesis can be placed immediately upon removal of the Scan Healing Abutment.
Key Advantages
- 2-in-1 reduces appointments and component swaps.
- Coded landmarks identify size from the scan — no manual transcription.
- Stable soft-tissue management with one component throughout the healing phase.

Final Torque Values
⚠️ Manufacturer-published torque specifications for clinical reference. Always verify against the current IFU before clinical use.
| Component | Torque |
|---|---|
| Final abutment screw | 30 Ncm |
| Healing abutment | hand-tight |
| Multi-unit abutment screw | 22–25 |
TS System rigid abutments at 30 Ncm. Clicq multi-unit abutment torque varies 22–25 Ncm per SKU. Osstem and Hiossen share platform geometry, so spec is identical for the conical-hex prosthetic interface.

Clinical Notes & Considerations
- Osstem TS and Hiossen ET are geometrically equivalent in their conical-hex prosthetic interface — many third-party libraries are sold as 'Osstem TS / Hiossen ET' combined. Always verify the library is for the platform variant (Mini vs Regular) seated, not just the implant family.
- Scan bodies require correct matching of Mini vs Regular platform; the carrier piece is a separate SKU.
- An updated ('new') scan body geometry was introduced — older library files do not align with the new scan body, and vice versa.
3DL Workflow for Osstem Implant Cases
- Identify the component before submission. Call (248) 919-7929 or message through the doctor portal — 3DL verifies the Osstem implant line, platform diameter, and the correct scan body family at no charge.
- Scan with any major IOS. Upload the scan through the doctor portal. 3DL confirms receipt the same day and validates the scan body capture before any milling begins.
- 3DL designs in matched pairs. Custom abutment and final crown are designed together so the emergence profile of the abutment supports the crown's gingival contour exactly.
- Mill, finish, ship. Custom titanium or zirconia abutment plus final crown ship together in 7 to 10 business days. Verification jig included on request.
