On1® IOS Healing Cap — Scannable 2-in-1 Healing Cap
Nobel Biocare's On1 IOS (Intraoral Scannable) Healing Cap mounts on top of the On1 Base and serves as both a healing cap and an intra-oral scan abutment. The On1 Base never disconnects from the implant — preserving the mucosal seal — while the IOS Healing Cap on top makes the impression appointment scan-ready without a separate scan body.
Per Nobel Biocare's On1 concept page, the On1 IOS Healing Cap "works as both a healing cap and an intra-oral scan abutment." It sits on top of the On1 Base (which remains seated on the implant during all prosthetic phases), enabling an impression-free digital workflow.
Note on shape: The On1 IOS Healing Cap is cylindrical, not anatomically contoured. For tooth-form emergence profile shaping during healing, see Nobel's standard On1 healing abutment line or third-party anatomic options.

- Place implant; seat the On1 Base.

Clinical Notes & Considerations
- Conical Connection (CC) platforms are NOT cross-compatible with NobelReplace (tri-channel) — different scan body required per platform.
- Position Locator scan bodies seat with the flat indexing facet on the buccal; the IO suffix designates intra-oral height vs. desktop versions.
- Nobel N1 has dedicated TCC (trioval) scan bodies; do not substitute CC scan bodies on N1.
- NobelPearl is Nobel Biocare's two-piece zirconia (ceramic) implant for metal-free restorations. Pearl uses a dedicated Friction Conical Connection (FCC) with its own scan body, abutments, and analogs — NOT cross-compatible with NobelActive, NobelParallel CC, or NobelReplace components. Indicated for patients with confirmed titanium sensitivity or where esthetic concerns about metal show-through through thin gingival tissue are paramount.
3DL Workflow for Nobel Biocare Cases
- Identify the component before submission. Call (248) 919-7929 or message through the doctor portal — 3DL verifies the Nobel implant line, platform diameter, and the correct scan body family at no charge.
- Scan with any major IOS. Upload the scan through the doctor portal. 3DL confirms receipt the same day and validates the scan body capture before any milling begins.
- 3DL designs in matched pairs. Custom abutment and final crown are designed together so the emergence profile of the abutment supports the crown's gingival contour exactly.
- Mill, finish, ship. Custom titanium or zirconia abutment plus final crown ship together in 7 to 10 business days. Verification jig included on request.
