MegaGen Implant Restorative Lab
3DL works with the full MegaGen Implant implant platform line. Custom abutments, screw-retained and cement-retained crowns, and implant bridges — designed to OEM tolerances with verified scan body compatibility. This page documents the implant lines we support, OEM and third-party scan body part numbers, CAD library coverage, and clinical considerations for MegaGen cases.

Third-Party Compatible Scan Bodies
Scan Healing Abutment + Anatomic Healing Abutment Line
MegaGen publishes a Scan Healing Abutment that doubles as the scannable component during digital impression — no separate scan body needed. A complementary Anatomic Healing Abutment line provides anatomically shaped tissue formers (Incisor / Canine / Molar / Special types) for site-specific emergence profiles.
Per MegaGen's product pages, the Scan Healing Abutment lets you "get scan data without removing [from] Scan Post" — the component remains in place during the digital impression. The Anatomic Healing Abutment line additionally offers tissue-form contoured shapes by tooth position.
Compatible Implant Lines
- AnyRidge (Knife Thread)
- BLUEDIAMOND NC and RC platforms
- AnyOne Internal (legacy)
- ST Mini and ST Regular platforms
Anatomic Shapes Available
- Incisor Type
- Canine Type
- Molar Type
- Special Type (custom anatomy)
Workflow
- Place implant.
- Seat the appropriate Anatomic / Scan Healing Abutment.
- Scan at the impression visit with the component in place. MegaGen recommends 2 mm of exposure on the surgical site for scan accuracy.
- Design — lab uses the MegaGen library to design the restoration.
Key Advantages
- Tissue contour shaped during healing.
- Scan-without-removal preserves the soft-tissue seal.
- Multiple anatomic options for site-specific emergence.
Note: The Anatomic Healing Abutment line and the Scan Healing Abutment SKUs appear on separate MegaGen product pages. Marketing materials describe scanning workflows that retain the component, but it's worth confirming with a current MegaGen rep whether a single SKU explicitly fuses both functions or whether they are sister products. Call 3DL at (248) 919-7929 — we verify per case.

Final Torque Values
⚠️ Manufacturer-published torque specifications for clinical reference. Always verify against the current IFU before clinical use.
| Component | Torque |
|---|---|
| Final abutment screw | 35 Ncm |
35 Ncm confirmed for both AnyRidge (Knife Thread) and BlueDiamond (X-FIT). Healing abutment and cover screw values not separately published — verify with rep.

Clinical Notes & Considerations
- Knife-Thread (AnyRidge) and X-FIT (BlueDiamond) are mechanically distinct connections — scan-body libraries must be selected per family, not interchanged.
- AnyRidge scan body uses a 9 mm vs 13 mm length variant; the longer scanbody is typically used for deeply submerged/posterior implants where IOS line-of-sight is constrained.
- BlueDiamond uses Narrow vs Regular Connection (NC/RC); confirm platform before scanning — the same body diameter can ship in either NC or RC depending on subline.
- Some MegaGen library components are exocad-first and 3Shape 'coming soon' per current product pages — verify the latest library status.
3DL Workflow for MegaGen Implant Cases
- Identify the component before submission. Call (248) 919-7929 or message through the doctor portal — 3DL verifies the MegaGen implant line, platform diameter, and the correct scan body family at no charge.
- Scan with any major IOS. Upload the scan through the doctor portal. 3DL confirms receipt the same day and validates the scan body capture before any milling begins.
- 3DL designs in matched pairs. Custom abutment and final crown are designed together so the emergence profile of the abutment supports the crown's gingival contour exactly.
- Mill, finish, ship. Custom titanium or zirconia abutment plus final crown ship together in 7 to 10 business days. Verification jig included on request.
